----------------- JEWELRY BY CnC -----------------
CnC’s items are concepts designed and constructed by my Husband and Myself. Jewelry making began as a hobby to give gifts to family and friends. The hobby took off and became a business. Our designs are inspired by everything we see around us as we travel, work or just relax. We enjoy working with the fascinating varieties of gemstones and beads that are available from varying sources obtainable from all over the world. Expert advice and training is an important part of learning how to do the best unique jewelry, and classes from Gene Sheriden, Dale Armstrong, Preston Reuther and the most recent by Dale Nichols, has helped a lot, especially in the area of 'wire sculpturing'.

This is a gemstone that has been around for a while. When it comes to fancy gems, all that glitters is not diamonds. The need for low price-point diamond substitutes has led designers to leave no colorless stone unturned in their exhaustive search for diamond essence at clear quartz prices. This stone is not quartz. Neither is it a zircon. This gem was once found in the United States and may be found there again some day. Indeed, it owes its name to its American place of discovery.
The gem is danburite, named after the Connecticut town of Danbury where it was discovered in 1839—and under which this deposit now sits. From Day One, this exceptionally clean, colorless stone was used for jewelry, especially because roughs came in larger sizes and the stone had a ring-worthy hardness of 7. In recent years, most danburite has been mined in Mexico where stones are also admirably clear and colorless to slightly pink. While some yellowish and brownish material has been found there, too, it has not yet become a jewelry stone.
